Author & Illustrator Jazmine Williams Brings “Our Colorful School” to Life at the 2025 Multicultural Festival with Natomas Unified School District
This past weekend, I had the incredible honor of participating in the 2025 Multicultural Festival hosted by Natomas Unified School District — and what an unforgettable experience it was!
As the author and illustrator of “Our Colorful School,” I was so proud to share my story with students and families through a special live reading session and interactive flag-making workshop. The event was centered around celebrating diversity, inclusion, and togetherness — values that are deeply woven into the pages of my book and into every workshop I lead.
The flag-making activity was a beautiful opportunity for children to express their heritage and creativity. Students created vibrant flags representing various countries and cultures while learning about the importance of embracing our differences. It was such a joy to watch them light up with pride and curiosity.
I was also thrilled to host a book giveaway and signing, where I personally signed 50 copies of “Our Colorful School.”Every signed book felt like a personal invitation to continue these conversations about kindness, culture, and community at home.
Being part of this celebration reminded me why I began this journey as an author and illustrator — to inspire young minds, spark meaningful conversations, and encourage unity through storytelling and creativity.
Thank you to Natomas Unified School District for including me in such a powerful event. I left feeling hopeful, inspired, and more committed than ever to promoting the magic of inclusion — one colorful story at a time.
With gratitude,
Jazmine Williams
